Jacquard Ribbon Types

Below are brief descriptions of the types of jacquard
ribbons we carry.

All jacquard ribbons have a woven (not printed) pattern.

Damask jacquard:
Softer and more flexible jacquard ribbon.  Densely woven.
When applied to ribbon, webbing, or fabric, will not show
background material.

Damask jacquard (starched):
Just like damask jacquard but with a stiffer feel due to
applied starch.  Starch will wash out and is applied to aid
in sewing.

Taffeta jacquard:
Background ribbon is made of taffeta.  Slightly stiff feel.
Taffeta background is lightweight.  Recommended for use
with a backing ribbon/webbing.
Note: Taffeta jacquard ribbon with a light colored
background is best used on a darker ribbon, webbing, or
fabric otherwise the back of the design may show
through.

Light woven jacquard:
Light weight woven design.  Soft hand.  Flexible.

Medium woven jacquard:
Medium weight woven design.  Soft hand but slightly
heavier and thicker than light woven jacquard.

Heavy woven jacquard:
Heavy woven design.  Very heavy weight with a feel of
densely woven jacquard fabric.  Our heaviest ribbon
available.  Very thick and heavy.  Appropriate for belt or
handle use without lining.

Double Satin Jacquard:
Tightly woven, medium weight woven jacquard.  Very
smooth silky finish.  No color bleed through.  Slightly less
flexible than damask due to tight weave.
